As the longest serving Trustee, it falls to me to welcome you to this first blog post on our new website, and tell you a little about Thrive Coventry, the new name for what was formerly known as The Rivet Group Trust.
For nearly fifty years our charity has supported hundreds of young people in Coventry in many different ways, enabling them to enjoy opportunities that they might otherwise not have been able to take part in, adventure weekends, activity holidays, school trips both in the U.K. and abroad, Scout and Guide camps and during the 1990s, the opportunity to spend a week on a family holiday in one of the two caravans that the charity owned at that time in Barmouth on the Welsh coast, and we have also been able to make individual grants for family holidays in other holiday camps and centres.
Over these years we have been able to support local young people and their families thanks to the generosity of long term supporters and other grant making bodies, and we hope to continue that support now that the charity has undergone a period of renewal and revitalisation, with new trustees, new links with other local bodies and a new website, as we try to make our charity better known in the city and surrounding area.
Thrive Coventry is looking forward to a bright future of supporting children and young people in our city, and we are already working on two major projects, which we look forward to telling you about in future blog posts.
